Prayers . . . for prisoners

A Plea for a Prisoner's Submission to Authority

Sovereign God,  I am praying for your own child who is presently service time in prison for crimes he committed against you and society.  I pray specifically that you would help him develop a spirit of submission.  You know he, like all of us, has a propensity to rebel and want to do it his way - to be captain of his own ship.

Lord, help him to recognize his natural desires and choose to seek your way and will in his every action.  Please help him to recognize those positions of authority you have ordained:  the unit management and staff, treatment personnel, and security staff.   They are intended for his good.

Help him to be diligent in studying your Word, so that on the occasions when authorities give man-centered advise that is contrary to your counsel, he will be respectful to them and yet resolve to obey you.  I pray that he develops such a spirit of genuine submissiveness that he will be a lighthouse for you in his sphere of influence.  Thank you for this one that belongs to you, Lord.  I speak this prayer in the name of Jesus.

Amen
