Prayers . . . for children

HELP THIS BLENDED FAMILY

Father God, I bring a family with stepchildren to you, begging you to help them.  In the heat of romance this couple thought blending their families would be easy.  They thought they could love each other's children, Lord.  Both the husband and the wife anticipated that their spouse's children would at least like them, but it hasn't turned out like that.

Lord, it's tough.  The children think the stepparents want to usurp the roles of natural parents.  They are openly rebellious.  Resentment comes to the forefront.  It's causing great agitation in the home, and  each stepparent has now come to realize they don't love their stepchildren as much as hey love their natural children.  The home has become a miserable place, Lord, with bitter fighting.

Lead the parents to have utter dependence on you . .  admitting they've made a mess of things.  Open their hearts to know that you can and will help.  You are their only hope, God.  Banish arguing and resentment from their home.  Make them willing to compromise and show consideration to each other.  Draw them to look for the best instead of blaming and finding fault.  Enable them to begin thinking of themselves as a family, overlooking faults, loving each other with your pure love.  Infuse the home with your spirit of peace.  We know you can do this, Father, so we ask for it in Jesus' name.

Amen
