Prayers . . . in times of worry and stress

Prayer Following an Argument

Heavenly Father, you know what angry words were spoken today. Some of them wee spoken out of frustration rather than truth.  Our relationship is tense and strained.  We cannot see each other's point of view.

If I am wrong, please show me -- even if it is difficult for me.  Where I have lost my temper and said harsh words, calm my stirred up emotions.  Forgive me for saying things that my have hurt him.  let me be humble enough to apologize for blurting out things I now regret.

If I am right, help me carefully choose my words and present my thoughts in a way that won't make him defensive.  Then change his heart.

Lord, please don't allow this issue to put a lasting wedge between us.  Break down any walls that cause either of us to refuse to see the truth.  Your Word says Satan prowls around like a hungry lion wanting to rip us apart and devour us.  I know he loves to see us angry and us at odds with each other.  I pray, Lord, that you will not let our relationship be torn apart.  Melt us back together in your everlasting love.  Restore our hearts to closeness and unity once again.  In Jesus' name.

Amen

"Therefore, as God's chosen people,

holy and dearly loved,

clothe yourselves with compassion,

kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Bear with each other and forgive

whatever grievances you may have

against one another.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Colossians 3:12-13
