The President

"The King's heart is in the hand of the Lord,

as the rivers of water:

he turneth it whethersoever he will.."

Proverbs 21:1

Dear Father,  in Jesus' name, I lift up our nation's president to You.  I know that our leader's heart is in Your hand, so I ask You to guide the head of our nation in the way You would have him to go.

Give our president spiritual, physical, and mental strength to fulfill his responsibilities with excellence.  Give him the courage to stand up for his convictions.  Give him patience and peace to endure the pressures of his office.

Help him to be resolute and determined to do the right thing no matter how much pressure he feels from those who oppose him.  Grant to our president wisdom and insight concerning every decision that he must make.  Give him boldness to lead our nation with integrity and honor.

I pray that You would give our president discernment, understanding, and knowledge so that our nation may know stability, both internally and abroad.

I pray that You would surround our president with wise counsel, godly men and women of integrity who place Your agenda and the good of this nation above their own, people whose motives are pure, honest, and trustworthy.

I pray for our president's family.  Encourage and strengthen their spirits, souls, and bodies.  Protect them from evil and harm.  Help them to be supportive of the president, and give them strength to deal with the pressures and demands of being the First family.

I give thanks for our president according to Your Word, and thank You for working in and through his leadership so that we might lead peaceable lives in godliness and honesty.  In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen.

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,

and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication

for all saints; and for me, that utterance may be given unto me,

that I may open my mouth boldly

to make know the mystery of the gospel,

for which I am an ambassador in bonds:

that therein I may speak boldly,

as I out to speak."

Ephesians 6:18-20
