PRAYER FOR AN UNBELIEVER WHO FEARS DEATH

God, who fervently loves all people, my friends has told me she is terrified of death.  Fear of it haunts her through daily activities; nightmares awaken her in the middle of the night.  No matter what she does, she can't shake the feeling of horror.  She came to me because she knows I am a Christian. She wanted me to comfort her, Lord, but I couldn't.

She should be terrified of death, Lord, because she's living her life without you, and without you she will spend eternity in torment.  God, help her!  Don't remove her fear; increase it.  Inflate the fear in her heart until she feels as though she will explode unless she turns to you.

Then give her hope.  Supply me -- or someone else -- with words that are precisely right for her; words that will open her mind to understand you and your love for you. Or call her to open your Word and read for herself.  Show yourself strong to her.  Take away any doubt that you exist.  Help her believe you chose her and are stretching out tender arms to her.  Call her to invite you into her heart as Lord of her life.

The instant she chooses you, Lord, flood her with peace.  Remove every trace of fear.  Give her a vision of heaven and an eagerness for her eternal home.  Thank you for prompting her to share this with me, Father.  Remind me to continually lift her up in prayer.  In Jesus' name.

Amen

In my Father's house are many rooms . . .

I will come back and take you to be with me

that you also may be where I am.
