Prayers . . . on longing for peace

A PRAYER IN TIMES OF LONELINESS

Heavenly Father, I ache with loneliness.  The silence of this empty house screams in my ears.  The phone doesn't ring.  My mailbox is empty.  I feel detached and abandoned by those closest to me.  Does anyone care?

Father, when these hollow pangs of loneliness strike, remind me that I'm not ever truly alone.  You have promised to be my constant companion -- always accessible with never a goodbye.  Thank you for the example of your Son, who often withdrew to lonely places to spend time with you.

Restrain me from filling the voids in my life with anything but you.  May your everlasting presence occupy the empty places in my heart.  Transform my seasons of loneliness into treasured times of fellowship with you.

Lord, thank you for being my forever friend.
