PRAYER WHEN A WIFE DIES

 

Dear Father, I come to you this morning with something new to me.  My heart is broken with the loss of my precious wife.  After so many years of enjoying the privilege of having her right by my side, enjoying every minute, making plans for the future, and experiencing everything a happy couple enjoys, she can never be a part of my life in the same way again.

 

Thank you for allowing me so many wonderful memories of her:  Her great love of life, her many talents, her desire to faithfully serve you.  Thank you for the love she unselfishly showed to each of our beautiful children.

 

I'm so grateful from our very early childhood years, we both knew you were always there; we could come to you anytime.  We've always known that your mercies never cease, your compassion never fails, and your faithfulness never diminishes.  Your mercies are new every morning.

 

Thank you for being the God of all comfort.  The days and nights get long and lonely.  Grief wants to come in and take its toll, yet I know you are there.  My greatest hope is the blessed assurance that my wife is waiting in heaven for the day you will call me to join her.

 

Thank you for your love that knows no measure and the blood of Christ that washes away all sin.  In Jesus' name.
