Prayers . . . for prisoners

Walk with This Prisoner as He is Released from Jail

Merciful Father, I thank you for this one who serves you with his whole heart.  He needs your help more than ever now, God.  Prison drove him to accept you because he had nothing else; no other hope.  But on his release he returns to the glittering world that tempted him before.  Help him, Lord.  Enable him to resist temptation by staying away from his old haunts and his old acquaintances.  Let him see the world through your eyes -- recognizing evil as evil and finding it disgusting.

Call him to a closer relationship with you than he had while incarcerated.  Convict him if he neglects reading his Bible and praying for even one day.  Mend broken family relationships.  Guide him to a church that will warmly accept and mentor him.  Give him strong Christian friends that hold him accountable and inspire him to serve you.  Lead him to a job so he an provide for his needs honorably.

Then Lord, as he follows you, pour your blessings over his head and help him to remember to lift his voice in praise and gratitude to you every day.  Thank you for your love a mercy.  In Jesus' name.

Amen

"You, my brothers, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;

rather, serve one another in love."
