HELP WITH ORGANIZING BUSY-NESS
O Gracious Father, when people ask You to reveal what keeps them from growing in
You, sometimes You point to busy-ness. I know I take on too much
not unlike many others, but whenever someone calls to volunteer many
people feel responsible to help. Isn't a Christian supposed to meet needs?
I know You planned our lives before we was born; You wrote out all our good works. Show
us how to recognize the tasks You created for us. Teach us when a need is not
ours to act on. Help us to make You Lord of our days so that, with
Your guidance, we can do the things You've designed for us, rather than rushing through activities someone else chose, O Lord,
You didn't expect Elijah to fill every need in Israel when famine swept the land;
You know we have to choose from
among the many demands and opportunities before each of us.
Make us determined to set aside a special time each day to read Your Word, to talk to
You, and then listen. Teach us to respond to the prompting of
Your Holy Spirit so that we don't step off the path, but instead go where
You lead and do Your bidding.
Keep us from jamming our lives so full that we push You out. Help
us to make time to sit at your feet and learn from You. Tell
us when to say no. Then when the answer is yes, fill us with Your power. I ask these things in Jesus' name.
Amen
Jesus said, "I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time . . .
Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon."
