Prayer for a Friend in a Troubled Marriage
I know that we have talked about this before, Lord. Many times. Still, I bring her to
You again. I am like the widow before the judge, refusing to give up because I know that
You are in the restoration business. You bring wayward children home. You make peace between the races and nations, fathers and sons, pastors and congregations.
Please make peace in
my friend's marriage.
Father, as tired as I am of praying about it, she is tired of living it. She is tired of hearing about how a marriage should look, when hers only causes pain. She is tired of feeling like a second-class Christian because hers isn't the perfect marriage. And Lord, her pain sometimes causes great doubt of herself and of her faith. Sometimes, Lord, I admit, she even doubts
You.
But you are the great reconciler. In Christ,
You make peace between men and God. And after all, Lord, what greater division exists that that? So, Lord, I am asking for
You to do whatever it takes to bring wholeness to this relationship. Use whatever
You need to get this man's attention. Help them both to see what trips them up and how they contribute to their conflict. Help them to identify the enemy as he divides
them. Help them to be thankful for what they do have.
Give her hope. Help her believe that change is possible and that
You will keep her, meeting her every need, every day, until change comes. May nothing every shake her love for
You. Set her in You like pebbles in concrete, for
You are the lover of our souls.
Amen
"Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."
Jer. 17:14
